What it's like in Javea to live all year around? - Winter Edition

08/08/2018

Wondering what it's like to be in Jávea throughout the year?

In this 4-part blog, we're giving you a little personal insight into our Costa Blanca lifestyle!

Winter

I am putting a scarf around my neck while grabbing the dog leads. I am planning to drive up the mountain, meeting a friend there. We will walk through the woods and after that probably end up in a café. Winter is perfect for a more active lifestyle. It’s the time of the year where you spend your days hiking along the coast, climbing the mountains and going for runs on the boulevard. The sun is shining around 300 days per year, meaning even the ‘coldest’ season should be spent outside of the house. The fresh air during winter is amazing and Jávea is full of cyclists and people fleeing the rain and snow of Europe's more northern countries. The temperatures during the day are still amazing, and at night dinners are held on heated or covered terraces.

My favourite spot during winter is the old town, as it has a cosy and romantic atmosphere, exactly what you want during winter. You won’t find many tourists during this season, so most of the time is spent with family, friends and locals (that you will see so often they kind of become your friends at one point). The popular places are still full during the weekends, and live music and local concerts keep places alive. With the three areas; the Port, Arenal and the Historical Centre that Jávea offers, there is still enough to do during winter. When you’d like to take a break anyway, now is the perfect time to go on day and weekend trips to Valencia and other amazing cities and towns. With Denia around the corner, you can easily find a bit of that ‘city feeling’ on any regular day.

So when I get out of my car with the dogs, sun on my face, looking over the Montgo and breathing in the fresh air, I know that I having nothing to complain about during this relaxing season.
